The Ski area is also a very popular place to visit for all winter holidays, and is well known for its world renown race the Mt. Baker Banked Slalom. Famous Pro snowboarders come from far and wide to compete in this race every year. It takes place in mid-February. The ski area is also known for its deep powder and fast groomers.
Winter is a great time to visit if you enjoy snowshoeing, cross country skiing, or sledding. The town of Glacier itself can be hit or miss as far as snow goes. Some years we end up with several feet and others we only get inches at once all year long. The best plan is to always come prepared for snow with good snow tires, and tire chains just in case.
