Most of the Mountain Hikes are still open in the early fall, depending on weather and snowfall. This is one of the most beautiful times to visit Glacier! The fall leaves are amazing! Up at artist Point there is an abundance of sweet, juicy, perfect, wild blueberries and huckleberries! The blueberry plants are also my favorite fall plants due to their amazing colors! They offer a marbled green, red, and orange leaf in the fall that coats the mountain sides. This makes the fall a perfect time for photographing, and admiring!

Once the first snowfall hits (usually Late September or early October) the road to Artist Point will close. However you can still drive up to the upper lodge at the ski area and park near the gate to artist point, and enjoy many of the same views by walking a little.

Just driving down the Mt. Baker Highway is beautiful in fall! The bright yellow leaves of the Maple trees glow like golden sunshine. When the leaves begin to fall to the ground the local trails in town are beautiful golden pathways. The weather is generally still fairly sunny in Fall, but the night time temperatures can start to drop in late fall offering warm days with chilly nights with temps dropping down to between 40 and right around freezing level in the late fall. This is a gorgeous time to visit, but it’s a good idea to bring layers of clothing so you can adjust with the temperatures between day and night.
