The Mt. Baker Ski Area is already seeing some fluffy white snow, and we could’t be more excited! Winter’s well on it’s way here in Glacier WA! Some people have been asking us if the ski area will be open this winter, and the answer is yes! Main operations will take place this year out of the Heather Meadows upper base area instead of the White Salmon lower lodge. Some Covid restrictions will be in place, so check the ski area’s web site for more details.

The NOAA (National Oceanic & Atmospheric Association) is calling for a colder wetter winter than usual this year. The snow has already started flying up at the Mt. Baker Ski Area, and it’s only October. We are hoping they are right!

Fall is my favorite time of year around Glacier.The Broad Leaf Maple trees turn their beautiful golden yellow and line the entire Mt. Baker Highway around Glacier. The Vine Maples turn all different shades of red, orange, yellow, and peach marbled together. This little tree on the Snowline Pond just outside The Heron’s Nest is always a treat in the fall too! What a marvelous time of year!

The Snowline Pond is such a beautiful place to relax in the fall!
