Pups need vacations too!

Pups need vacations too!

Do you ever find yourself in the day to day rut of routinely running around almost robotically going through the motions of daily life? Sometimes I think our pets feel this too! We all need some time to get away from habitual living, and go enjoy something fresh! Maybe you need a new adventure, somewhere you’ve never been before, or maybe just somewhere that you can relax and put the stresses of life aside and unwind a bit. Either way the Mt. Baker wilderness is one of the most beautiful places in the world, and it’s dog friendly too! So bring your pup and come check out what this amazing area has to offer! There is an abundance of sniffing to do, there are some creeks to splash in, lakes for swimming in, and rivers for relaxing next to. Your pup won’t be disappointed and neither will you! Check out our vacations rentals in the area for a beautiful place to stay on your visit!

Spring~ The most peaceful time to visit!

Spring~ The most peaceful time to visit!

Spring is a great time for visiting Glacier because the Mt. Baker Ski area closes down for the season, and the town is quiet and peaceful! The days can be nice and warm and the rivers are flowing full with snowmelt. Rental prices are generally the lowest of the year since it’s in between busy seasons. This is a great time to enjoy a relaxing, quiet getaway to the local trails, and rivers! Check out our newly updated Cedar Suite at Snowater! During this season, it rents for as low as $99 for midweek stays.

Spring is in the air!

Spring is in the air!

Spring is such a beautiful time to visit Mt. Baker! The flowers are starting to bloom, and all the trees, and plants have fresh bright leaves! One of my favorite things about spring in Glacier is how everywhere you look it almost appears to be glowing.

Salamander babies have hatched

Salamander babies have hatched

The little spring salamander eggs have hatched. My boys have been enjoying watching them eat. A little interesting fact about salamander babies is that when they first hatch they thrive on the yolk sack for several days, sometimes not eating any real food for about a week.

Once they do start finally eating they rely on the instinct of chasing, and will only eat something  that is moving. It’s fun to watch them as you wiggle a little frozen worm in front of them and they get down and arch their shoulders and then pounce on it like a little kitten in play. It’s also a little difficult to get them to eat the first few times.

After a while they start to rely on their sense of smell for food, and feeding them becomes much easier! At that point you can just leave the food in the tank in a pile and they will flock to it all on their own.
